    The General Administration Department handles the overall administrative activities related to the Hospital and liaison work with Government and other Departments. The Department consists of ministerial staff looking after the day-to-day affairs of the Centre in accordance with the existing rules and regulations of the Centre and in accordance with Government orders/instructions, issued from time to time. Accounts Section: This division plays a key role in up-keeping the financial matters of the Centre. All works pertaining to preparation of annual budget, salary disbursal, maintaining PF accounts of staff members all payments & receipts, maintenance of all books, ledgers and registers, all banking transactions, auditing etc are handled under this Division.

HR & Establishment Section: The establishment works of this Centre are handled under this Division. All recruitment procedures for academic staff as well as non-academic staff are performed by this Division. Leave matters of staff, service matters, maintenance of service book, dealing with Government related communications etc.

Purchase, Store & Pharmacy Section: All purchase matters including medicine purchase are handled by this section. All purchases including medicines, equipments instruments furniture etc done following Store Purchase Manual. All medicines related to cancer treatment, i.e, anti-cancer drugs, surgical & disposables, antibiotics, reagents etc;- are purchased through this section.The Store section deals with stock handling, maintenance of Central Stock Register, condemnation, disbursement of required items to various Departments/Divisions, printing & stationary etc. The Pharmacy in MCC plays an important role in patient care. It is situated at ground floor very near to OP departments in an accessible area. It supplies all drugs to various departments in the hospital. Its functions are carried out 24 hours by qualified people. There is a separate IP pharmacy for serving in-Patients.

Security Section: The security wing of MCC plays a pivotal role in maintaining the security system of MCC and is headed by Security Officer. Security guards are Ex-servicemen and are outsourced through manpower agencies. They are guarding the Centre 24x7 and are posted in various areas of this Centre, for the smooth functioning.

Academic, Library & Information Sciences: MCC, one of the pioneer institutes in cancer research demands each and every recent updates about cancer treatment from all over the world. Library is the heart of an institution. It has the back born of the research and development activities in every science and technology organization. Our library is comes under the category of special library which deemed to the integral part of the progress of MCC in all of the academic activities.

Medical Library: Separate reference section has been organized using four shelves in a row. Multivolume books and books for examination purposes are treated as reference collection. Besides that, one copy of each duel kept in reference.

UpToDate: is an evidence-based clinical decision support system (clinical database) by Wolters Kluwer, USA.

General Library: Books are for all and always to read. Our institution had built up a hospital library in the year 2004. Its primary aim is to provide information and recreation to the patients as well as the bystanders. This Library is established under the sponsorship of Kerala state Library Council. Books and Magazines are issued to the patients, bystanders and the staff as per their demands. The vision of the section is to make a virtual library. A virtual library is a digital space that keeps and organizes virtual books and their associated documents. It also can refer to a space where the books can be read. These spaces can include computers, mobile devices and the Internet.

    The Clinical Administration and Public Relations Division is the control center of the hospital, providing 24-hours attention towards the handing and serving of all patients’ requirements and needs. The Hospital Assistant is responsible for facilitating the smooth and accurate flow of information regarding hospital-wide services, location of patients, location of hospital departments, location of meetings, etc., ensuring excellent customer service to patients and visitors. The Hospital Assistant is a resource for the volunteers who are working at the Reception. Various financial assistance, dormitory assistance etc are one of the responsibility of the division (Data acquisition, retrieval, analysis and submission of reports on various financial assistance to patients).

    The reception-cum-information desk which serves the reception, information and communication needs of patients and visitors should be convenient to people as they enter the lobby. Reception is one such area in a hospital that has a direct access for all who come to the hospital. All those who enter the hospital have to pass through the reception. It being the face of the hospital serves as a big assistance to all those who require it. Therefore, it is essential that a reception be situated somewhere in the front of the hospital so that patient has direct assistance. Secondly, it is also important that those who manage from this seat should have a lot of patience, a big smile on their faces and also be very courteous in their language towards the customers. They do require keeping up-to-date information about everything of the entire hospital. So that the customers go back to their homes broad smile on their faces rather than dissatisfied.

Services

The following are the services dealt by the registration- cum reception counters:

Front desk reception:

  • Answering queries of visitors, patients, bystanders, doctors and hospital staff.
  • Giving appropriate information to the person who asks for any queries.
  • Issuing tokens for new case patients and follow up patients.
  • Issuing required certificates to patients for various purposes.

Registration counter:

  • Registration of patients and allotment of UHID (Unique Hospital Identity Number) based on the socio demographic details from the patient/bystander.
  • Entering the patients name and all the required details of the patient in the HIS.
  • Issuance of patients Registration Card/Follow up cards.

Telephone operations:

  • Receiving the incoming and outgoing calls.
  • Connecting or communicating the calls or messages to the respective departments.
  • In the absence of reception staff, should attend to the enquiries of the patients.
