Cancer patients more often have a compromised dental health. The reason may be either the bad habit of using tobacco which might be the causative agent for the cancer or the side effects of the treatment that they have received like radiotherapy and chemotherapy. An in-house dental service is essential at any cancer centre to meet the dental needs of their cancer patients. After getting a cure from their illness, it is important to maintain the quality of life of the patient. Dental rehabilitation helps the patient for better mastication/chewing, improves appearance, regain confidence in their social life. In India only a few cancer centre focuses on the need for a dental rehabilitation. |
