Financial Assistance Schemes

1. Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi (RAN)

Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi (RAN) is a financial assistance scheme implemented by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, to support economically weaker patients suffering from life-threatening diseases, including cancer, who require treatment in Government hospitals.

Objective

The scheme aims to ensure that patients from economically weaker sections are able to access life-saving treatment without financial hardship.

Eligibility

Patients belonging to economically weaker sections, including those holding the following ration cards:

  • AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) Ration Card
  • PHH (Priority Household) Ration Card

Financial Assistance

  • Financial assistance of up to ₹15 lakh may be provided for treatment of life-threatening diseases.

Coverage

The assistance may be utilized for:

  • Surgical procedures
  • Chemotherapy and radiotherapy
  • Cost of medicines
  • Diagnostic investigations and other essential treatment procedures

Application Process

Patients may approach the Supervisor Scheme  of MCC (PGIOSR). The hospital will forward the application with required medical and financial documents to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for approval.


2. Health Minister’s Discretionary Grant (HMDG)

The Health Minister’s Discretionary Grant (HMDG) is a financial assistance scheme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, aimed at providing financial support to poor patients undergoing treatment for serious illnesses.

Objective

To provide financial assistance to economically disadvantaged patients who require specialized treatment in Government hospitals.

Eligibility

Patients belonging to economically weaker sections, particularly those holding:

  • AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) Ration Card
  • PHH (Priority Household) Ration Card

Financial Assistance

  • Financial assistance of up to ₹1.25 lakh may be sanctioned under this scheme.

Coverage

The grant may be used for:

  • Hospital treatment expenses
  • Life-saving medicines
  • Diagnostic procedures and specialized medical interventions

Application Procedure

Applications must be submitted through the treating hospital with:

  • Medical certificate from the treating doctor
  • Income certificate / ration card copy
  • Identity and address proof
  • Treatment estimate

The hospital forwards the application to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for consideration and sanction. Patients may approach the Supervisor Scheme  of  MCC (PGIOSR) for additional information
